Before we begin, I want to share a little background. This post was originally written when I was pregnant for the first time. I wanted to keep it exactly as I wrote it back then because these are genuine thoughts and emotions from that special time in my life. Moving into motherhood has been one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had — divine, fulfilling, and transformative. I believe it’s the same for every woman who is willing to embrace the journey and experience one of life’s greatest miracles: the creation of life itself. With this post, I’d like to start a new chapter on my blog, just as a new chapter began in my life.

Finding out about the pregnancy
I was already 8 weeks and 6 days pregnant when I found out I am. It happened that way, from the simplest reason that my period was never regular and many times I went through buying tests and experiencing them to be negative. So I thought that the period is just late. I found out that I am pregnant thanks to the morning sickness I had. It was going on for a few days before I realize that something is happening and I have to take care of it. At first, I thought that I am feeling sick because I was changing something in my diet. A few weeks before, when I was in London I was diagnosed to be gluten intolerant and I was trying to remove it from my daily food intake. So, I thought that maybe the reason for my vomiting. One morning in December I vomited 3 times in 5 hours. So it was obvious that I have to check myself. Knowing that my period is late, buying a pregnancy test was the first thing I did. To be very honest, I didn’t expect it will be positive. I didn’t expect to see those two lines and at that moment no emotion was expressed from my side. It takes time to understand what is actually happening. I went to see the doctor and I was so overwhelmed once I heard that the baby’s heart is already beating. It is then when I realized life is growing inside me!
Positive mindset and a strong belief
What followed next is absorbing all the information about pregnancy, reading and talking with women about the pregnancy and moving into motherhood and everything you could possibly expect. Oh, you will hear everything, you will hear different stories, you may feel misinformed and not guided properly by your doctor, fears may arise, yes it can be too much. The best thing that I could possibly do is listening to my body and strongly believing that everything is perfectly fine. I believe in my body. I believe my baby takes only what it needs. I eat as healthy as I can, but then I also do satisfy my needs. I do what pleases me and I eat what I believe is healthy and will not harm my baby. I go with my own beliefs, the baby chooses me to grow in, and there is nothing better I can do than to constantly feel good or even better. Even when I do something that “may not be” that healthy, like lighting up a cigarette, I only say: “This will not harm my baby, it is a very strong baby ready for this world”. People will speak, and they will even judge. They will judge you because of what you do, what you eat and even how you behave, but it is ok, they say things because of their own beliefs. But they don’t know what I know! Nobody knows better than me, about me and about the thing growing inside. Leave the doctors on the side, I would like to write a separate post about that.
Fears will come, just don’t let them consume you
Yes, of course, there is a fear. Fear comes from the mind, so it is easy to silence it. Don’t give any meaning to it, just be aware it is only a thought. Probably even normal worrying thought, as is said: “Once you become a parent you live in a constant worry.” I am saying this right now to feel good about the worry there actually is, but for sure I would like to change that and not live in a constant worry or a fear. Silence it, remove it in the instant second. We are what we think, so think of what you actually want to be! Fear limits you and your vision.
Moving into motherhood begins once you know you are pregnant
Moving into motherhood brings such a joy that I am not keeping it for myself. I share my happiness and I am not afraid of it. It is a life that is being created and I cherish it. I take this as such a personal and unique experience and I would like to speak a lot about it. So what is happening? It takes time to comprehend that you are becoming a mother. There are no extraordinary feelings, except when you think that there is a baby actually growing. The body is changing a lot, but that is something you feel week by week, month by month. Cute belly growing, breasts are growing, ass is growing. And it is all so sweet and cute. Changes are coming constantly. I don’t have the feeling that now I have to change my life upside down. I really go with the flow and I constantly try to implement better and healthier habits. It is a great challenge and I am looking forward of everything it brings.
Mothers-to-be, please share your thoughts and experiences. Thank you for reading my post, and I hope you find it useful as many other things on Szia Soul.
